Our second largest referral source is from CPAs and other
financial professionals. There are several reasons for this. A divorce
is a common event with many of these professionals' tax clients. These
professionals want to make sure that their clients receive the best advice
in this sometimes very complex area. In addition, there may be some services
that the professional does not perform, such as a business valuation.
Sometimes professionals realize there is a potential conflict
of interest if they decide to represent one of the parties in the divorce.
Rather than be in this situation, the case is often referred to us.
Our primary interest is in working in the divorce area.
We respect the existing client relationship that the CPA or financial
professional has with his/her client and we work to maintain that relationship.
At the same time, when we are contacted by individuals
requesting financial planning or specific tax expertise in areas such
as 1031 exchanges and estate planning, we attempt to refer these clients
to the CPAs and financial professionals with whom we have worked.
